The weekend of Sept 9, 2017, we camped at Sandy Neck park. We hiked to camp for a few miles along the beach. For the way back, we hiked along the marsh. There are nice campsites sheltered behind the dunes among some pines. Park staff supplied camp with water and firewood.
The Eagle Scout project for David Van Sickle was building and placing two US Flag collection boxes. One is outside by the side door at the Brown James Buck VFW Post on George Ryder Road and the other is in the lobby of the fire station on Depot Road. When flags are weathered, they can be put in a box and the troop takes care of properly retiring the flags.
The Eagle Scout project for Owen Van Sickle was adding a flagpole to Scout Hall at 224 Stage Harbor Road. The flagpole has a solar-powered light at the top to shine on the flag.
